Barataria Terrebonne National Estuary Program announces the development of JASON Expeditions: Disappearing Wetlands, which will focus on the work of the following Louisiana scientists:

  • Denise Reed (UNO geology/Geophsyics)
  • Rachel Sweeney (Project Manager NOAA, NMFS)
  • Mark Schexnayder (LSU Ag Center/Sea Grant Wetland Ecologist)
  • Jacoby Carter (USGS NWRC Ecologist)
  • Earl Melancon (NSU oyster biologist)
  • Marco Giardino (NASA Earth Science Applications Division)

 

The live broadcast of the Expedition will be in late January to early February.

Are you a teacher living in the BTNEP estuary?  Ten teachers from each of the 15 BTNEP parishes will be chosen by their parish curriculum supervisor to participate in the JASON Expedition: Disappearing Wetlands.  Call your parish curriculum supervisor and ask to be put on the list!  Selected teachers must agree to participate in one 6-hour professional development training session to learn how to use the curriculum materials and access the online materials.  Cost for the workshop is $35 per teacher.  Materials are free (an $89+ value!  Click here for  workshop information.
